Tell us that one day we'd grow up like this?
You said it would be hard, you said that it would last forever.
But you never told us about how one day we'd be children and the next day all of our friends would all of our innocence would fade almost as fast as it came?
It was so sudden I'm not sure if any of us noticed. All of a sudden everyone has families everyone’s gone or dead or happy or sad but everyone’s alone. I’m sitting here thinking back and it feels like I missed out on a saga of my story where the passage of time allows for us all to gradually become adults. I remember knowing nothing and now I’m so full of responsibility that I have now become apart of the group of people that look down on foolishness when not too long ago that was all I knew.
With each passing year I find myself growing but with each passing year I feel like a new lesson means the loss of something I once held dear. But I’m not even sure of what that was. And the worst part is, is that I know everyone’s stories has gone through this exact same scenario.
If I asked you when you became an adult could you tell me? Was it April 12th 2020? Or like me is it a vague memory so far back it sounds like a fantasy?
When did mistakes become permanent and when did happiness become more of a reality than the shows we indulged in during adolescence?
I’d like to ask everyone to begin this year by looking back then looking forward. Our past and futures are so beautiful that the present often goes unnoticed. Remember what you can plan for what you must but embrace every moment or like me you’ll forget who you are as you become who you must.
